Yoga Therapy is an emerging field that is taking root in our culture as an integrative health care practice. The need for professionals trained in yoga therapy is on the rise and there is an increasing interest in bringing the tools of yoga into a wide variety of settings.
Our new Somatic Yoga Therapy Program has been refined to serve the evolving needs of individuals and organizations and serves as a vehicle for deepening your understanding of the healing aspects of yoga.
200 hour Yoga Alliance certified teachers can receive their 500 hour YA certification upon completion of the Level 1 Somatic Yoga Therapy training.

Level 2 (500 hours) will be offered in the fall of 2017 for graduates of the 300 hour Somatic Yoga Therapy training who wish to become IAYT certified yoga therapists.
This program is both educational and transformational. It is an in-depth, comprehensive training in Somatic Yoga Therapy with a curriculum that is both challenging and personally enriching. You will learn tools and techniques for working with people with a wide range of physical, mental and emotional health challenges, and, more importantly, you will come away with a deeper understanding of the healing power of yoga from personal experience. Includes training in classical yoga therapy and Ayurveda as well as leading edge material from somatic psychology, mindfulness and neuroscience.
The Somatic Yoga Therapy training is a balance of practice, lecture and group interaction with an emphasis on personal experience. Each section builds on the next as we move from gross to subtle, outer to inner, layering the teachings in a systematic and integrated way. Two residential retreats will be an opportunity to dive deeply into aspects of yoga therapy with the final retreat focusing on the psycho-spiritual dimension of yoga for healing from both a personal and professional perspective. Space is limited, so reserve early.
The Program will include in-depth teachings that integrate asana, pranayama, meditation, self-reflection, visualization, mantra, affirmation and prayer. It will be highly experiential in nature for a deeper integration and understanding of the internal yoga experience. The program will include practical tools for managing anxiety, depression, chronic pain, digestive issues, insomnia, structural issues (low back, etc.) working with trauma and how to bring balance on the psycho-emotional level through yoga.
Cutting edge issues, including the dynamics of the student teacher relationship, psychopathology and scope of practice will be covered, as well as how to work with some of the undigested, unintegrated psychological material that arises along the path of awakening. A wonderful opportunity to deepen your understanding of the healing aspects of yoga. Great for Yoga Professionals as well as Psychotherapists, Social Workers, Physical Therapists, OT”s and those interested in deepening their understanding and practice of yoga.
